Lettuce Wrapped Juicy Lucy

These burgers are flavorful enough on their own, even without a bun or condiments.

Ingredients
6 slices Borden® Extra Sharp Cheddar Melts
2 lbs. ground beef
12 leaves Bibb lettuce
6 slices beefsteak tomatoes
6 slices Vidalia or sweet onion

UNWRAP each slice of cheese. Fold in half and then in half again to form squares.

DIVIDE the ground beef into 6 equal-size pieces. Then divide each piece in half and flatten into a 4-inch wide circle. Place the cheese in the center of the circle and top with another circle of beef. Press the edges together to seal in the cheese.

HEAT gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.

PLACE patties onto grill. Grill 6 minutes. Turn burgers; continue grilling 4-5 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F or to desired doneness.

PLACE on top of lettuce then layer with a tomato slice, an onion slice, and another lettuce leaf.
NOTE:
Resist the urge to press down on these burgers when they’re cooking, not only will the burgers be drier, but you risk pushing all of the cheese out the sides
