Cook Time
30 min
1 pie crust (store bought is fine)
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup onion, diced
1/2 lb. thin asparagus, cut into 1-inch pieces (about 1 cup)
1/4 lb. smoked ham, diced (about 1 cup)
2 cups 2% milk
4 large eggs
1 cup Borden Finely Shredded Swiss Shreds
Salt & Pepper to taste
PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Cook the crust according to package directions until it begins to brown and remove from the oven.
HEAT the butter in a large skillet over medium heat while the crust is baking. Add the onion and cook, stirring for 3 minutes or until the onion softens and becomes transparent. Add the asparagus, and continue cooking until the asparagus has become tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the ham and remove from heat.
BEAT the milk, eggs and salt and pepper together. Stir in Borden Finely Shredded Swiss Shreds. Spoon vegetable mixture into the pie shell, top with egg mixture and top with more Borden Finely Shredded Swiss Shreds if desired.
BAKE for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the quiche has become puffy and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let sit for 10 minutes then serve warm.
